In the spirit of Thanksgiving and of MNM Creative's mission to "lead community service projects to support the DC community", MNM Creative raised $200 through a Go Fund Me Campaign for sandwich fixings, water, and other food items to distribute to the homeless in Northern Virginia and DC. MNM also made casseroles to offer to the LAYC Safe House Center for homeless and runway youth. MNM Creative continues its work to support the DC (and surrounding) communities even if it means small acts of kindness. Change doesn't have to make huge waves. For MNM, even helping fill one person's hunger counts as a big success.
On Wednesday December 20th, MNM Creative and MNM Creative Collective Member, Taygo, co-hosted a toy/clothes/food drive for the Columbia Heights DC community at Studioxiidc just in time to bring a little bit of joy to our neighborhood families! With a lot of help from MNM Creative Outreach Coordinator, Eliana, and from MNM Creative friends, dozens of children from the community dropped by to choose a toy to open for Christmas. This type of event is among MNM Creative's most favorite because it directly aligns with our mission to serve and empower the DC community. Special Thanks to Taygo For Presenting this Event and brining it to Light! Special Thanks to Jasmin Benab & Maria Patricia for Their generosity in Sponsoring us with Toys and Food for this event along with Taygo and many of our Friends who sponsored the Toys to give to the children this year!

On Saturday November 25th, MNM Creative organized an Art and Food Drive to collect canned foods for runaway and homeless youth at the LAYC SafeHouse Drop-In Center. The event took place at Corinto Gallery as a 2-for-1 special: art, music, and a chance to help out those in our community who are less fortunate. Ten musical performers from the MNM Collective and Local DMV Artists shared their creative talents and encouraged their followers to join the effort. The cover charge to see the performers was one can of food or $5. All the support helped MNM Creative collect over 100 cans that are now stocking the food pantry at the LAYC Teen Cente Safehouse Drop-in Center. Every can counts!

On Saturday August 19th, MNM Creative, in collaboration with the Artists Solidarity Foundation/ Fundación Solidaria de Artistas and Underground DC, organized and hosted a successful night of visual and performing arts. Twenty locally-based visual artists, including vendors, displayed their art and merchandise. Live poetry, Andean 'folk' music, and northern Native American singing/drumming performances accompanied the visual artists' and vendors' exhibit. The event was designed to serve as a safe space for all participants and visitors by encouraging the D.C. community to deepen its appreciation of all its members no matter their gender, sex, orientation, race, and ethnicity. We want to thank The Uptown Art House for welcoming us into their space and allowing us to showcase both up-and-coming and established D.C. artists. We want to thank ASF, the Uptown Art House and all performing and visual artists who helped make the night a big success. And, of course, thank you to all members of the D.C. community who came out to support the local arts. MNM Creative is proud to be contributing to the growth of a movement that celebrates the role of art in the healing of culture. On Thursday March 30th and Saturday April 1st, 2017, MNM Creative worked together with ULTMG to spread awareness about what we can do as a community to raise awareness about the missing youth in D.C. So many people in our DC community showed up to the various metro stations where we were posted and showed support for the cause. Many community members signed pledges to keep DC safe and to work together to raise awareness about this serious issue and build community connection to make a positive change in D.C.. It is through these types of efforts that can and WILL prevent our community members from going missing. Thank you to ULTMG @tootrill for co-partnering with us towards this effort. We were proud to be a part of such important work.
Mnm creative led a night of interactive music, art, and performance to build a movement of positive community resistance in DC. Our purpose was to highlight the power of art to change the world! MNM Creative presented "Wall of Flowers", a night that brought DC youth together to express how they feel about the major injustice in our country today and what kind of positive resistance they would like to see. We invited artists of every kind: visual artists, spoken word artists, writers, poets, musicians, and academics!! We also had stations where people created posters to raise their voice at the next protest or simply to write, draw, or paint how they feel. Thank you all for making it out for a night of community building and creativity!
The first DJ Menace art contest co-sponsored by Migo Production and MNM Creative was a great success!!! What great talent and strong community vibes we were a part of! Thanks to Corinto gallery, Migo productions, the mnm team and the talented artists for making something so positive happen in our city. It is so obvious that DJ Menace was such an influential part of the community, shaping the music scene for generations. His passion continuous through the Migo family. Each artist brought such creativity and thoughtfulness to their representation of DJ Menace as you can see from the photos. May this be the beginning of a positive yearly tradition and the beginning of many new collaborations for MNM Creative!
MNM Creative co-hosted an annual Christmas toy drive with LaUnion DC, and representatives from the Columbia Heights Shaw Collaborative, and the DC Mayor's office. Together we collected Over 200 toys to donate to 3 kings day in Ward 4! MNM Creative thanks everyone who donated and made a difference in the life of a child this Christmas.
MNM, along with two other artists, will be featuring his work at Gala Theater in April 20 from 7-10pm. This event is organized to raise awareness about mental health issues, specifically Borderline Personality Disorder, an often stigmatized and misunderstood mental health diagnosis. MNM and his two colleagues show the value and healing qualities of creative expression in emotional and mood regulation.
